Roots Wellness was founded in 2025 out of a simple but powerful belief: health is about community. After years of seeing how traditional healthcare systems left people feeling rushed, overlooked, and burdened by costs, I knew there had to be a better way.
I created Roots Wellness to bring care back to its roots—relationship-based, accessible, and centered around people, not paperwork. Through the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model, we’ve removed insurance barriers, allowing patients to have direct access to their provider, longer visits so that all your needs can be addressed, and truly personalized care—all at an affordable monthly rate.
But Roots Wellness is more than a clinic. It’s a space where trust grows, where conversations matter, and where the health of each individual strengthens the whole. Because when we care for each other, we build a healthier community—together.

As the child of a dedicated military service member, I was fortunate to grow up in various parts of the country, gaining a deep appreciation for resilience, adaptability, and community. Though I was born in Alabama, I spent the majority of my formative years in San Diego, California — a place I consider home.
In 2008, I relocated to Florida to care for my father, Master Sergeant James Russell Kasten, following his battle with cancer and open-heart surgery. At the time, I was also recovering from a serious back injury that ended my career as a union pipe fitter with Local 230 in San Diego. That period of transition was both challenging and transformative — one that led me to rediscover my purpose and redefine my commitment to service.
It is because of my father’s strength, perseverance, and unwavering support that I am here today — with the privilege and passion to serve others. His influence continues to inspire my work and the care I provide to every individual and family I serve.
